  • Eating and Drinking

Throughout its history the city of Adana has been influenced by many different cultures, and the results of this are most visible in the local food culture. The main ingredients of the region’s cuisine are bulgur wheat, meat, and spices, while the best-known dish of the area, the Adana Kebab, has become famous even beyond the borders of Turkey. The fermented red carrot juice, known as şalgam, and traditional appetizers, or meze, that are served alongside the kebab are among the top things to try during your stay. If you are looking for somewhere to sample delicious local flavours, you won’t be disappointed by the elegantly presented dishes at the Koço Restaurant or by the succulent meats at the many branches of Yüzevler Kebab.  And while we’re on the subject of food, we should point out that eating out in Adana is very cheap.
