Atlasjet is the first private airline company to be a member of IATA. The IATA – (International Air Transport Association) – was founded in Havana, Cuba, in 1945. IATA is an esteemed foundation that aims at developing safe, trustworthy, reliable and economical airline services by providing solidarity to its customers all around the world. The international scheduled air services industry has grown a hundred fold since 1945. The dynamism of this growth is obvious in comparison to other industries and this development couldn’t have been this successful unless there were standards, applications and procedures developed with the contribution of IATA. IATA originally had 57 members from 31 countries, mostly consisting of European and North American countries, when the association was first established. However, today it has 270 members from more than 140 countries worldwide. The modern IATA is the replacement of the International Air Traffic Association that was established in the Hague when the world’s first scheduled flights began in 1919. Mr. Giovanni Bisignani, the President of IATA and the President of Board of Directors, visited Istanbul for the first time in the beginning of last April. Ms. Funda Calisir, the President of IATA Turkey, and her team showed hospitality to Mr. Giovanni on his first official visit to Turkey. Mr. Juerg Sraup, President of IATA Europe, who accompanied to Mr. Bisignani received information on the progress of electronic tickets from the directors of Atlasjet and provided information on the work of IATA’s teams of “Fuel Go” (Fuel Productivity).
